The Lisa Harnum Foundation
The LHF envisions a world where women and children can thrive without fear or abuse, and we are committed to achieving this goal by preventing family violence and breaking the cycle of abuse. Through education and social change, we aim to create a society where everyone can feel safe and respected.
Our mission is to support those in need and provide secure spaces for those who have suffered from violence, helping them to rebuild their lives and restore their dignity. We advocate for a community where family violence is no longer tolerated, and work to empower those who have been affected by it.
We are driven by a deep sense of compassion for those living in fear of violence, and we are passionate about helping them find the freedom to flourish and feel empowered. Our organisation operates with the utmost integrity, and we strive to exceed expectations in all that we do, from providing safe spaces to advocating for change.
We prioritise the needs of the people we serve, listening to their experiences and embracing their unique situations. Our goal is to eradicate the impact of family violence on individuals, families, and communities, and we are committed to achieving this through ethical and innovative approaches.
The Lisa Harnum Foundation was established in memory of Lisa Harnum, who lost her life at the age of thirty when she was thrown from the 15th floor balcony in Sydney City by her fiancé, Simon Gittany. Lisa had been subjected to intimidation and control by Gittany in the time leading up to her tragic death. When she attempted to escape, Gittany responded with aggression, ultimately ending her life by dragging her back into their apartment. The Foundation works to honor Lisa's memory by supporting those affected by domestic and family violence, and striving to prevent such tragedies from happening to others.
Our Corporate Partners and Sponsors
The Lisa Harnum Foundation would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to our corporate and private sponsors for their support in helping us achieve our mission of eradicating domestic violence. Without the generosity and commitment of our corporate partners, we would not be able to provide crucial services for those in need. Your contribution has made a real difference in the lives of women and children who have suffered from domestic abuse. We are deeply grateful for your ongoing support,
and we look forward to continuing our partnership to create a safer future for all.
