Every Voice Matters: Amplifying Awareness for Domestic and Family Violence Prevention This May
Every year, thousands of women in Australia experience domestic violence — but not all abuse leaves bruises. Some wounds are invisible. Some traps are psychological. And some lives are shattered long before a hand is ever raised.
This is the reality of coercive control — a silent epidemic in our homes, workplaces, and communities.
Coercive control isn’t about momentary anger. It’s a sustained pattern of manipulation, intimidation, and domination. It isolates. It depletes. And it can be deadly. Victims often describe it not as a single traumatic event, but as a slow erasure of their freedom, identity, and confidence.
Why This Matters in the Workplace
As professionals, leaders, and community members, we may not see the signs — but they’re there. They show up in absenteeism, stress, disengagement, or isolation. In whispered calls for help. In the colleague who used to smile but now walks a little quieter.
And yet, the workplace also holds incredible power: to respond, to support, and to change culture.
This May, the Lisa Harnum Foundation is inviting individuals and organisations across sectors — from real estate and finance to health, hospitality and sport — to take a visible stand against domestic and family violence.
What You Can Do
✅ Share resources on coercive control with your team, your clients, your network.
✅ Sponsor a Safe Room — a private, secure space where women in danger can seek help.
✅ Or simply donate. Every dollar helps us provide the life-saving services that hundreds of women need each year.
How Can You Make a Difference?
We invite you to stand with us this May. Your involvement is vital to spreading the message and amplifying the voices of those who need our support. Here's how you can get involved:
- Follow and Share Our Posts: We’ll be sharing powerful stories, survivor testimonials, and information throughout the month. Share these posts across your social channels to help us reach even more people.
- Use #EveryVoiceMatters: When you share, use the hashtag #EveryVoiceMatters to add your voice to the conversation. Together, we can create a wave of awareness and a united front against domestic violence.
- Donate: Your financial support allows us to continue offering essential services to survivors. Every dollar helps provide counselling, resources, and support for those rebuilding their lives after domestic violence. Donate today at www.lisahf.org.au/donate.
Together, we can raise our voices and create the change we want to see. Let’s ensure that every voice matters, and that no one has to endure domestic violence in silence.

Let's Build a Legacy of Safety
Domestic violence is not a private issue. It’s a community issue. A workplace issue. A leadership issue. And this May, I invite you to be part of the solution.
Together, we can create a culture where silence no longer protects the abuser — and where safety, dignity, and respect are not privileges, but rights.
Because every voice matters. And this month, it’s time we used ours.
